Austin Startup Determined to Make the Internet Carbon Neutral

Austin, TX. December 11, 2007 - Today the environmental consulting and technology startup MoveNeutral.com announced its plan to make the Internet carbon neutral. Webmasters, bloggers, and companies can visit MoveNeutral.com to gain access to a snippet of code, which, when installed, will offset the amount of carbon dioxide generated by their site at no cost to them. The snippet of code displays an attractive image which proclaims "Carbon Neutral Certified Site."

When asked how the technology works, Charles Wagner, the President of MoveNeutral.com, responded, "Our engineering team estimated the carbon cost of the average page request on a server, the cooling of the server, and the flow of information to the user through various hubs and interconnects. When sites install the code snippet, we monitor their traffic and we will purchase carbon offsets corresponding to each page view." MoveNeutral.com plans to pay for their costs through sponsorship and consulting.

MoveNeutral.com already offers customers the ability to offset their vehicle CO2 emissions and have a certification sticker to be proud of.

When asked why they decided to make the Internet carbon neutral, Wagner said, "We wanted to share our vision with the world, and the best idea we had was to change it. I couldn't be more proud of my team. They truly have done something amazing."
